Adults learn here,
too.

You will not be the only adult who comes to us never having learned. You will not be the oldest. You will not be the most scared. We have done this — patiently, privately, kindly — with hundreds of grown-ups. Most are riding within three sessions.

Why adults come to us

Five doors in.
The same patience.

Most adult riders walk in carrying some version of "I'm too old for this." You're not. Pick the one that sounds like you — we've taught dozens of each.

Door A

Never learned.

Growing up, no one taught you. Maybe your family didn't have bikes, or there was no safe place, or it just never happened. You're an adult now and you want this skill — quietly, without anyone watching.

Door B

Coming back.

You rode as a kid, hadn't touched a bike in 20 years, and just realized you might want to. We'll re-fit you, retune your balance, and get the muscle memory back. Faster than you think.

Door C

After a crash.

You hit something. Or a car hit you. Or your kid did. The fear is reasonable and the path back is gradual. We don't make you ride. We let you decide every step — including stopping.

Door D

Family-curious.

Your spouse or kid rides. You want to keep up on the bike path this summer. We'll get you to "comfortable on flat path with confidence" in a handful of sessions.

Door E

Skills upgrade.

You ride on the path but the road scares you. Or you ride the road but trails are foreign. We'll teach cornering, descending, traffic, signals — at an adult pace.

Door F

Bike-tour prep.

You signed up for something — a tour, a long ride, a charity century. You don't want to be the weakest rider in the group. We'll build a 4–6 session plan to your event.

How it works

Quiet. Slow. Yours.

Step 1 Reach out

You tell us where you're starting.

Form at the bottom of this page, or email Coach Mike directly. We read every one. No bot, no script, no judgment.

Step 2 We meet

Quiet lot. Right bike. No spectators.

We pick a venue you'll feel comfortable in — typically an empty Boulder parking lot. We bring a bike that fits you. The first lesson is just you and one coach.

Step 3 You ride

However long it takes.

Most adults are riding independently in three sessions. Some need two. Some need six. We don't rush — and we don't quit before the goal is real.

"I rode for the first time at 39."

Adult riders, in their words

It works.

Three of our favorite adult-rider transformations from the last two years. Names are real (with permission); details are theirs.

3 sessions · 0 to independent

Maria, 41

Boulder · grew up in Mexico City · never learned

"I made my husband promise no one I knew would see me. By the third session I was riding the Boulder Creek path. By session five I was passing him."

5 sessions · post-crash

David, 52

Lafayette · crash on a downhill, 2023

"I couldn't get back on for over a year. Coach Adam started by just having me stand next to the bike. We ended the series on the same descent that scared me — I cleared it."

4 sessions · tour prep

Priya, 36

Louisville · signed up for Colorado Tour of Lights

"I'd been riding the path but never in a group, never on roads. Four sessions with Coach Mike on traffic skills and I rode the whole tour without freezing up once."

It's never too late to ride.

Our oldest first-time rider was 73. He rode a 12-mile path that fall with his granddaughter. Your turn.
