A 5-Day arc

Monday they can't.
Friday they can.

"He rode 30 miles that week."

Every Pedaling Minds week is engineered as a 5-day progression. We're not babysitters with bikes — we're an Olympian's curriculum, taught in a Boulder parking lot, on real bikes, with real kids.

Mon
Monday
Day 1 · Skills
Bike sizing, helmet on right, balance on two wheels for the first time. Falls are okay here.
Tue
Tueday
Day 2 · Skills
Pedals on. Two-foot glides become real pedal strokes. The "click" moment for most kids.
Wed
Wedday
Day 3 · Skills
Controlled stops. Cornering at speed. Hand signals. Riders start coaching each other.
Thu
Thuday
Day 4 · Skills
Real distance on a real path. Group dynamics, single file, two-by-two.
Fri
Friday
Day 5 · Ride day
Confident, controlled, independent. Mountain ride or distance ride to celebrate. Parents stunned.
The method

The 3 Ps.

Practice. Patience. Perseverance. The framework parents tell us their kid started using off the bike — at school, in the mountains, with their siblings. We capitalize them on purpose.

1
The 1st P

Practice.

Skills compound with reps. Our progression earns each next step — never skipped, never rushed. By Wednesday your kid will be teaching themselves.

"Just one more lap." — every kid, every day.
2
The 2nd P

Patience.

We meet kids where they are emotionally — fearful or confident, four or fourteen. No two riders take the same path. Coaches read the room before they read the curriculum.

Empathy is critical. — Coach handbook
3
The 3rd P

Perseverance.

We don't give up until the goal is reached. Once your kid learns to ride, that skill stays with them — forever. The 3 Ps follow them into the rest of their lives.

"We will not give up until we achieve our goals."

Meet Coach Mike

From the world tour
to your kid's first pedal stroke.

Mike Friedman raced bikes professionally for a decade. In 2014, fresh off the world tour, he started Pedaling Minds as a part-time passion project — sparked by the moment he taught one kid to ride, watched the bullying stop, and realized this was the work.

"Every child deserves that 'I did it!' moment — and too many never get the chance."

Every child deserves
that "I did it!" moment.

In 2025, one in three kids who walked through a Pedaling Minds camp was on a scholarship. We don't means-test, we don't ask for documentation, and we don't let cost be the reason your kid doesn't ride. If you need help, ask.

33%On scholarship · 2025
~150 kids rode this summer because someone covered the cost.
What parents are saying

Five days. A different kid.

We didn't write any of these. Parents did — usually on Friday afternoon, mid-tear.

"5 years our boys have done Pedaling Minds. They started in Learn-to-Pedal not riding at all. Now they're on the mountain bike trails for 10+ miles."

"Coach Adam was a godsend. Every time Landen fell, he encouraged him. Two lessons later, Landen was confident enough to practice in the neighborhood."
